Image Transfers

Hi Everyone
Weather improving today - the sky and the ground looked wet earlier but now a bright patch appearing.

Lots of plans today - as usual very little time so am going to try and consolodate researching - I often get sidetracked when interested in something I see on my morining blog trawl. I do value this exercise and its great for inspiration. However, there is a balance ! I often miss this balance ! Here is an example of a positive angle, I love this piece below which use's 'draws' as the basis of a wall display - great idea and so unique with the option to change of modify daily (if thats what you want !). Lovely idea. Will try something similar for my own house. Will share when I have something. The shades of grey blog give details of how it was done. Go take a look. blog link

old chopping board

draw display - fantastic look
Am still working with the new/old bit of wood - here is is - its an old chopping board. Love the idea of the recycle from scratch. Hope to finish the prep today. It will be the new Miss Mitchell painting.

Also going to try this new technique (new to the project) with the paper cloth project. I talked about this yesterday. This photo shows another couple of great ideas from the stitch alchemy book. Its all about transfer techniques (one of my current obsessions) The first technique is tape transfer and the second acetone transfer. Will take some photos as I go to show the developments as applied to my project.

Also as discussed yesterday, I have devised this 'promp board' idea. I think its going to work well. I have a method to get my ideas together and then a record for review and sharing. Just what I wanted to achieve. My only problem is getting it on here. I need a simple transfer. Its an app from my i pad. There will be an answer but as yet I dont know what it is ? Will do a bit of research.

Must go.

Bye for now

New Ideas with new techniques.

Hi Everyone
Weather looks fair today - could go either way ! Bit cloudy but it feels 'lighter' .
I'm still 'at sea' with my blogging approach. This is a 'several days in' trying again at integrating my iPad and pc tools. I'm getting there and its fun ! Is'nt that what lifes about ?

Ona practical front, I have found and primed my bit of wood (from yesterday's blog). Did'nt move on from there, as yet.
I also found a great picture to add to my collection of inspiration 'prompts'. I mentioned this idea yesterday ie : using the inspiration prompts as a starting point for the new Miss Mitchell painting (aka the primed bit of wood).

inspiration picture - part of the 'pb'
I'm also looking to find an app to collage these 'inspiration' prompts, I think I will refer to them as 'prompt boards' or pb's . Will share when I'm there. What I really need is lots of little images literally around me/within my sight. Each inspiration image will have an element of it that I want to interpret (in my own way) and place in my mixed media painting. Using the little house shapes below,as an example, I like the overall colour combination and the pen like element on the border.

love these little pictures - a bit like my sugar and spice collection combined with the papersac village stuff - more ideas with this !

love these stitched animals - especially on the bags

I came across these lovely images this morning. Just love the pictures which could be houses. The colours work well and I like the embellishment stuff. Also what about the bags ? I've seen the ruffle bag idea a few times but this version is lovely.
wow ! what can I say - just wonderful.
Like the animal free stitching - another thing I'm drawn too and inspired to experiment with.

After yesterdays blog, I was looking for the 'paper cloth' references in this blog and can only find a simple reference which does'nt explain the development at all. Will be using this paper cloth in a few ideas for future work,so will explain a little more about the development and what it is. I came across the idea from a book 'stitch alchmy'. Its a fabulous book with loads of ideas. The final outcome ie paper cloth is a mixture of papers(mainly tissue weight) and some kind of cloth(I used untreated cotton) - fused together with glue. Lots of other stuff can be embedded into the paper cloth and it can be painted, sewn etc. The sample I showed yesterday was basic paper cloth which had been both painted and sewn. Its really interesting to make the material - it will be unique each time and to some extent an unknown outcome. Take a look at the book. Will share my experiments as I go.

Thats about it for now.
PS the house did not get cleaned yesterday. looks like I'm too busy today !

Bye for now.

Mind Over Matter !

Hi Everyone
weather seems a little dull at the moment - could rain ! Hope not. Am thinking about going for a run. Have not been running for a while and need to start again. I've been suffering with Glandular Fever (long struggle) but now feel I need to get fit again. Its like starting again for the first time. Very frustrating and a mental thing - I realise this but it doesnt help.

On a positive note - I'm feeling optomistic about painting time today - have found a largish bit of wood and am going to prime it. I have some ideas about a ew Miss Mitchell. She is used for so many illustrations and does need a new look. My aim is to think about this while I run.

Am also feeling 'lost' as mentioned yesterday. My little boy (not so little now) but the smallest ! is away on an outdoor trip with school (only three days). He will be fine and will have a great time but ........... - I know its a mother thing but I still feel he is so vulnerable. I know he's a little aprehensive and it shows in his manner (a bit irritated/withdrawn) - its part of his character. As soon as he gets there and he knows whats going on, all will be well. Its just me - how can I cope ? I too, will be fine. A run and some painting will do it.

Shrek characters -see ears !
I've been looking at my pininterest boards this morning and there are some great inspiration photos - here are a few of my favourites to share. The rings remind me of the flowers in my paper fabric piece as well as the ears on the shrek characters. The dolls are great and the button badges are also a favourite
etsy rings - love them
All the photos are from Etsy - the range of stuff there is amazing. I'm going to use these images as inspiration for adding to my new Miss Mitchell. Will share how I use the images and how they translate into my work. Its an interesting experiment for me. I want to get back into technique experiments.

A while ago, I developed some 'paper fabric' - there is something on this blog about my approach (I think). I will find something to explain for tomorow. Anyway the final fabric looked great and I did use it in some work (unfinished as yet). However, maybe now is the time to get it going again.

Here it is. I still like the idea. I was going to add pictures - little minatures of my dolls. However, I'm now thinking about words with some pattern or stamping ? Not sure. Lets see what happens .

Must go and get on with life.

Bye for now

Not so pretty !

Hi Everyone
Weather seems to be much improved today. I'm rather unsettled as my little boy is going away for a few days with school. He will have a great time. He excels in the countryside and takes on a new confident 'self'. Still, makes me a bit of a lost soul !!!! Art will be my medicine.

I,ve been routing around the garage for bits of wood, prompted by a memory of a painting in a nearby country house which is clearly using floorboards (rather warped now). I often think of this painting and must go and review it. I may go later tomorrow ? Not sure if I have time. Anyway, the point is, I am going to try the floorboard approach for myself. This is to be 'the medicine'.

I came across these funny little things a few days ago - I like the 'dolls' and am inspired to do something similar with one of my doll paintings. Will share my results. They are not pretty but they are cute. I will try something a little less shabby ( I think ? )

Here is another - they are great and must take forever to make.

I've written this bit of the blog now (much later in the day) while experimenting with the i pad again - just in case you were wondering where this bit fits with the following. Its an added extra - just for today.

Bye again

Making more ART !

Hi Everyone
back into the world of the pc - the weather is great today- much brighter and warmer - it is May !

I'm hoping to get going with some more art today - I've got a lot of organising in our home - we look like we've been burgled ! Total mess everywhere. I also need to prep. some packing for my 'littlest' boy to go on an outdoor activity trip. Does'nt leave much time !

I've been thinking about new art work - I've been looking at a painting in our home which I like and have decided to do another of a similar size. Its a large piece - covers almost a whole section of a wall. The colours are just right - it was used as an inspiration for the room. The painting has very many layers and has quite a number of colours. Its painted onto wood, which I love. Wood gives such a great texture to the final piece. Iwill need a new room if I produce many pinting of this size !

I also need to collate all my paintings/prints for the shops - I have seriously ignored my shops for months ! Must make this a priority. I've sold most of the stuff in the shops and they look empty. Also - whole artistic review - lots of almost finished stuff.
Still, so much to do and so much clutter to 'rid myself from'. So, must get on.

Before I go - take a look at this new suzi blu video-  its all about stamping and much more - techniques and advise included - its a great inspiration and a brilliant update on using colour shading. Suzi has a way of moving me on.

Suzi stuff
Bye for now.
